Friday Fly Day

Friday we headed out to the orphanage around the same time, which got us there around 10 am again. We started out our day on the second floor balcony because there were two other families up on the third floor balcony. It was a much more peaceful start to the day. Most of the kids were are st school and we started out with just T and D and I think a couple others. We used the picnic table to set up a large Doc McStuffins puzzle. It was so humid that some of the cardboard puzzle pieces were warped and didn't fit together correctly. The kids enjoyed putting it together and occupied their time for a bit.

As the morning progressed it got hotter and stickier. The beautiful breeze that made the temperatures bearable for most of our trip escaped us that day. The lack of breeze and the residue of food that we'd been sharing with the kids the day before seemed to make the second floor balcony a prime location for the flies. Between the heat, sweat and annoying flies it made for a pretty uncomfortable setting. Our translator suggested that it might be better down on the first floor balcony so we all headed down there. He was right, it was a little better. There were at least less flies. It was still hot and sticky, but it is Haiti, so we are fortunate that it wasn't that way all 15 days we were there.

When we headed down to the first floor T seemed to be showing signs that she could be getting sleepy. I made sure she went potty when I started to sense she might fall asleep on me!! I thought I was being preemptive, but she ended up staying awake all day on Thursday. She hit her second wind in the afternoon and was full of energy. We invited some other littles out on the balcony with us so that we could take some photos to send back to families waiting for them from afar. T enjoyed playing with them and sharing her things with them. She let me take some videos of her saying different things to me. Videos that I will cherish and watch regularly as we wait to see her again.

I noticed that T seemed to be warming up to Shawn more as the week was coming to an end. While she still was relying on me to take her potty and to pick her up and bring her to the swings, she was interacting more with him. They worked on the puzzle together and in the afternoon she was hiding under his chair and being playful with him. I caught this picture of her hanging out under his chair holding his hand. I have no doubts that she is a future Daddy's Girl!
