Crazy Sleepy Day

Today we made it to the orphanage by 9:45. It is a holiday in Haiti so the kids didn't have school. When our vehicle turned the corner and we could see the orphanage we could also see about 20 kiddos already on the second floor balcony. We could also see that they were already amped up! T was also on the balcony, so we waved to her and blew her a kiss from the ground and she reciprocated. We met her upstairs and entered the craziness. I'm not sure if it was just the excitement of not being at school, but it seemed like all the kids were full of sugar. It was loud and busy!

It only took an hour or so before we and the Seales decided we needed to reclaim the balcony. We asked one of our translators if we could have some quiet time and he started asking the kiddos to go find another place to play. (For some of them that was the hallway to the balcony and involved crying and sticking their hands in the gate to make sure we knew they were still nearby.) We gave the kids some snacks and I attempted to play a game of memory with T, but she wasn't really into it. I had fun finding a few matches. :)

There was a ball on the balcony that we're not sure where it came from, but she was interested in that for a bit. She was distracted by cocoa puffs that I brought so she was done playing with a ball until another child made his way on the balcony and started playing with the ball. She decided to be the enforcer and take the ball away by hitting him. She was not distracted by the cocoa puffs that I tried to get her to come eat while I gave the ball back to the boy. She cried, but decided she still wanted the cereal if I was going to feed it to her through the tears. I could tell it was about time for her nap. She gets a little moody when she gets sleepy. Sure enough she settled down and fell right to sleep on me.

When we had arrived at the orphanage she said something to our translator about not peeing in her bed anymore. She told him she doesn't. Weeeelllll, she christened her mama during nap time. Oops! I am officially her mama, well in the world of what mamas go through with their kiddos, I've passed this one. Fortunately, I had extra clothes to change her into...when she woke up. Unfortunately...she slept and long time today!! So long in fact, that it was only about 10-15 minutes before we had to leave today. (Since it is a holiday we had to leave earlier than usual to avoid traffic.) The sleepiness just seemed to be in the air today. Here papa took a nap as well and missed the peepee episode. If only I had transferred her to him today! :) Oh well, I still enjoyed my sweet pea safely and comfortably in the arms of her mama! Only two more days to enjoy this time, so I will take it.

P.S. Misty survived the ride home with the stinky peepee mama thanks to the scent pack from T's Scentsy Buddy! Thank you for not making me ride on the roof, Misty!! Love you, Girl! hahaha
