Homecoming Time is Here!!!

It is actually homecoming time!! In 2012, if you had told us that Eli would be entering his senior year in high school before we could bring daughter home we likely would have asked, What are our other options? How can we adopt a little girl sooner?" God knows that this would have been the case. But He also knew that there was this little girl. She was only a one year old at the time. He knew that at some point she was going to neee to be cared for by a family other than her own. He knew that we were just the family for the job. I am so glad that we didn't know!!

As we prepare to pick this amazing little girl up to bring back to Maine to be part of our DAILY lives there are so many things that I love seeing or hearing! Here are some of them in no particular order:

-When the person booking your flights asks for the names, birth dates, and gender of ALL passengers and you send back information for FOUR people!!

-Pink, pink and more pink!

-Tiny person swimsuits

-Dolls

-A booster seat in a dining room chair ready to support a tiny tushie

-A pink Paris themed teepee and a finished girl's room

-Small gold glittered dress shoes fit for a princess

-The words "when we fly home with her"

-Hearing "your sister"

-Baby doll strollers and an heirloom baby doll crib refinished with love

-Doc McStuffins anything

-A car seat successfully installed by your husband in OUR car ready to keep a little human body safe

-Labels on items around the house to help with English...which get a good laugh when friends come over and Eli tells them his parents are trying to help him out 🤣

-Hair products galore taking over the "boys" bathroom

-A pint size butterfly backback full of activities to entertain a 6 year old on a plan

-Tiny dresses and shorts and shirts and socks an undies and shoes all packed in and ready to go

-Snacks that were lovingly purchased and gifted to our family by co-workers that are so supportive and excited for our trip

-A package addressed to Tarah, sent by a friend from the orphanage that now lives in Pennsylvania who is missing her so much

-A lady bug step stool for brushing teeth at the sink

-Seeing the words, "_____ can't wait to Facetime with Tarah when she is settled!" Said by multiple adoptive mamas (and grandmamas) from our Foyer community over the past few days. ❤

-Matching maroon shirts that we designed and bought about 4 years ago with the plan to wear them at homecoming...it is time!!

I am sure I have forgotten or missed some things, after all I have been awake since 3am...and it is not even our fly day!! My heart is overwhelmed with joy as we prepare to leave tomorrow. There is a lot to squeeze in today,  but I have a feeling I will float through the day on my own little cloud. I will struggle to sleep through the night and will be up with butterflies in my stomach tomorrow as we board a plane to get to our girl. The emotions will run high, there will be stress and likely some tears.

By Monday all of the preparing and waiting and heartache of being apart from our girl will just be gone!! There will be a different kind of heartache as we take her away from all that she has know for the past three years and the country that she was born in six years ago. There will be new challenges and struggles as we all transition to our new normal, but through it all there will be joy. There will be love and hope for restoration and peace.

It is time and he is faithful!! ❤
